Here is a message from Ms. Nina Yuson, the President of the International Movement, ATD Fourth World, regarding our former President Corazon Aquino.
http://www.atd-quartmonde.org/Cory-Aquino-a-symbol-of-justice.html
President Aquino wrote a letter of support to the International Movement, ATD Fourth World during the first commemoration of the International Day of Overcoming Extreme Poverty at Trocadero Plaza, Paris, France on October 17, 1987. During her term as as the Philippine president, she officially commemorated October 17. It was during President Fidel Ramos' term that October 17 was officially declared as a National Day wherein government agencies and local governments will actively participate in its commemoration.

“People think it’s enough for poor people to have a roof over their heads and a piece of bread to eat to be happy. Shelter and bread are important, but art is essential. It gives meaning to life and makes you want to continue to struggle.”
